13 June 1945 The Manchuria campaign has ended

Unread post by Tiger »

S!~ All,

The Manchuria 1945 campaign began on 23 May 1945, and it has ended on 13 June 1945. Despite the fact that the Axis forces flew numerous sorties with little or no opposition, the Axis airfield has been over-run.

I will be posting scores later today.

S!~ Aaron,

Although I do not pretend to know exactly how the Dynamic Campaign Generator works (yet, anyway), I do know that it is driven by the ground war. What is destroyed does not determine the movement of the front lines, but rather, what is not destroyed. It would appear that, although we flew quite a number of sorties, we missed some ground units that were able to advance to our airfield, thus ending the campaign.

This evening I will discuss with =AVG=Warren the possibility of running the campaign again with =AVG= flying Allied. Also, =AVG=iP0ke is working on broadening the area of operations to include more airfields for both teams, and additional ground units. We may also look at other things, such as extending the time between map changes.

Please keep in mind that this is the first event for us. And, although we did do some testing for the weeks prior to the event, the real test was putting on the actual campaign. There were a few things that occured that we had not anticipated, such as the server not accepting the password that I entered, or the fact that the teams were not balanced. However, I consider the campaign a huge success in terms of the learning experience. For example, the server functioned correctly for the entire campaign. That, in and of itself, was an accomplishment as getting the 4 programs required to cooperate. In addition, we are now learning how to modify the campaign withn the DCG, and soon we will be able to create them from the ground up.

I have attempted to figured this out just by watching what happens...... :| lololo

Protecting your front line ground forces is just as important as killing enemy ground forces anywhere on the map.

Ground forces will engage when they meet each other and depending on armour, guns and mainly postion will destroy each other. When the next mission loads, the destroyed forces from the ground war are gone. Surviving forces will either remain there or get reinforcments or move the front line or all the above.

Last night I/we/us blue did our best to nail every tank near Mulin and Mulin Bridge. I only saw 1 Red tank column repeatedly show up, mission after mission at various postions in Mulin. During my last 2 missions last night we finally had 2 friendly tank columns and 1 truck column show up at Mulin Bridge. My guess is Red tanks from Mulin moved to Mulin Bridge and kicked the axis forces asseseses. I have watched this battle before.

Fontline moved......... Allies won.

Playing the ground war in campaign mode is like being a fullback in the NFL.
Dont go for the touchdown, just put repeated hurt on the guys trying to tackle your halfback. ;)
