Rumbling in the sky

The girls and I were out in the backyard when a rumbling wa heard that just got louder and louder. Suddenly a pair of jets popped out of the overcast and then nine more came in close formation behind them.

I grabbed my camera and got this shot just after they finished their second pass. The Snowbirds were around 1-200' and they turned their smoke on almost directly over my house. Sadly I couldn't see the screen and only got two of the nine in the frame. With luck I can get some better shots tomorrow when they have their actual show over the harbour.

AH the Blackbird. I have been facinated with that plane since i was little. It was way beyond its time when it was built. A plane that goes so fast that it can't even be touched for an hour after it has landed because of the temp of the outer skin. amazing

Sometimes it is absolutely necessary to kill a fly with a sledgehammer.

Show was cancelled due to there only being a 500' ceiling over the harbour and they require 1000' of visibility. Right after that, you couldn't even see across the harbour. What makes it really annoying is it was nice and sunny out the last two days, and it will be again for a week from tomorrow. But the one day all summer that we actually needed the sun, it pours.
