IL2 requirements?

Unread post by Harry »

I did a search here and found nothing... I know I asked before, but being old, stoned or drunk, I have been side tracked.

what are the minimum requirements and what would be the ideal machine to run this game? (found a long lost piggy bank and I know its full of money that needs to be spent!) not afraid to build my own (at least have my geekie bro-inlaw help) use to do a rebuild about every two years.

alrighty then just looked at me DT (I know was suppose to do this for Tiger some time ago...)

MB ASUS P5B-E
CPU Intel(R) Core 2 2.4GHZ
Video NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 512MB
Ram 2GB
(this should run the game no?)

Thanks again

Harry

Yup, should run it fine.

As far as what game you need that is where the fun begins

IL2:1946
Patch to 4.08
this will be your base point. . now copy it and
Add AAA UI 1.2 or whatever it is now ( I still just have 1.1)
Make another copy and Patch to 4.09m
Make a copy of this and
Patch with HSFX 4 (I still have to do this)

so you will have
4.08 (base game to default back to if you screw up)
AAA switcher version that will switch between 4.08 and 4.09b with mods
4.09m
4.09m with HSFX4

That's aboot what I have Harry, and I usually get 50-60 fps. If you have disk space, do as Colslaw says with the copies.

thanks guys, but in sp mode game was very glitchie... stop and go kinda thing... this is why as said before I put game on the shelf to collect dust, found it rather disappointing.

as for disk space, that won't be a problem. thought I would renew my interest in the game and get some help in setting it up.. hoping to see it run at the 40 to 60fps as some are reporting avec similar system? but alas I left my js at work, I should pick one up tomorrow and give this a shot. perhaps I might be able to hook up with one of you on TS and someone can hold my hand and do a walk through?

will IL2 run on vista? or should I load it up on xp? my hard drive is partitioned win xp has aboot 40GB and vista has aboot 60GB harddrive space.

one more dumb arse question... where does one find these downloads?

If it is stop and go, check your graphics settings. When I played on my previous laptop I had it set to run in 16 bit at 800x600 and low to medium for most of the graphic options except distance which I kept at maximum.

Even just dropping it to 16 bit should give you a huge increase as it is exponentially smaller than 32bit in number of bits needed to describe each pixel.

I have it on both XP and Vista and really don't see a difference beyond the fact that Vista is a huge RAM hog

downloads are all over the place .. you need to register at AAA to get theirs UI 1.2 . . the 4.09m (566mb) is in a thread somewhere here from 2-3 weeks ago when I installed it. . the HSFX one is also here somewhere, but is a 7 part torrent amounting to 3GB.
