"water water everywhere if the pipes shall break*
Just when I was planning on yet another new guitar, my downstairs bathroom developed its own shower system based on the pipes going to the upstairs bathroom. ....
The good news is that it isn't the foundation which was my first worry when I saw water on the floor, especially after getting the downstairs redone after the flooding in September 2009.
Amazing how much trouble water can be when not contained properly
*Apologies to Samuel Taylor Coleridge

The leak is fixed. Luckily it was found early enough that no real damage was done. The wood is all fine, but the drywall for most of the ceiling needs to be replaced still.
I replaced the cold water line as well since it was showing some wear. All told it was only 1 1/2 hours of work spread out over a couple of days while we got everything ready

I'm glad to hear that it wasn't more serious than that, Colslaw. Perhaps you can still get that new guitar.

Funny you should say that about the guitar. .. I checked my bank account the other day to be sure I had enough in it to cover the repairs and such. .. turns out I had an extra $500 there - looks like my tax return finally went through and I got a direct deposit refund or GST rebate. So I emailed the company about the cost to get started on the custom built guitar I want.
My band is booked for the month of April at a bar for four weeks and the casino for the final weekend, so the hope is to get enough from that to get the guitar started

Basically I am looking at getting a honey/amber burst Les Paul standard style guitar with '50s style P90 pickups. Possibly a Bigsby tailpiece as well. Here is the the company that does the basic guitar - http://precisionguitarkits.com/Les-Paul ... r-Kit.html I will get it with binding to the body and neck as well as trapezoid shaped inlays.
The fun will be doing the burst finish. You start with a maple top with a flame pattern to it and give that a coat of black ink or dye. Sand that off so it is just in the lower portions of the flame. Dye the top amber so the grain and flame can be seen. repeat to desired shade. then you do the outside edges with a darker shade - usually a red. Now you place it in direct sunlight so it fades to just the right colour .. then you seal and clearcoat and sand and sand and sand. ..
The bassist in my band just traded me some 40+ year old P90s from a Gibson SG Pro so I have the starting point.
