Meh those videos are notorious for missing out on information.

Yet i find it ironic because it was saying that we are preparing people to learn about new technology that doesn't exist yet.

Then later in the video it claims that by there 3rd year of study they will be out dated LOL.. The internet.

Some times you need to break down the information a bit more.

Education spending (% of GDP) (most recent) by country:
# 1 Cuba: 18.7% 56,000,000,000 (GDP) *.187 = $10,472,000,000
# 2 Vanuatu: 11% 635,000,000 (GDP) * .11 = $69,850,000
# 3 Lesotho: 10.4% 1,602,000,000 (GDP) *.104 = $166,608,000
(Now i can go on and on but GDP is about the worst think you can compare data by since it is very inconsistent country to country)
# 38 United States: 5.7% 14,260,000,000,000 (GDP) * .057 = $812,820,000,000

Literacy Rate:
= 1 Holy See (Vatican City): 100% 2008 Time series
= 2 Andorra: 100% 2008 Time series
= 3 Finland: 100% 2000 Time series
= 4 Greenland: 100% 2001 Time series
= 5 Georgia: 100% 2004 Time series
= 6 Norway: 100% 2008 Time series
= 7 Luxembourg: 100% 2000 Time series
= 8 Estonia: 99.8% 2003 Time series
= 9 Latvia: 99.8% 2003 Time series
= 10 Poland: 99.8% 2003 Time series
= 11 Ukraine: 99.7% 2003 Time series
= 12 Slovenia: 99.7% 2003 Time series
= 13 Samoa: 99.7% 2003 Time series
= 14 Barbados: 99.7% 2002 Time series
= 15 Russia: 99.6% 2003 Time series
= 16 Lithuania: 99.6% 2003 Time series
= 17 Slovakia: 99.6% 2001 Time series
= 18 Belarus: 99.6% 2003 Time series
# 19 Kazakhstan: 99.5% 1999 Time series
= 20 Hungary: 99.4% 2003 Time series

# 22 Uzbekistan: 99.3% 2003 Time series
= 23 Moldova: 99.1% 2005 Time series

= 25 New Zealand: 99% 2003 Time series
= 26 Japan: 99% 2002 Time series
= 27 United States: 99% 2003
Alot of this data is 7 yrs old plus. One is ever 11 years old..
I think 99% isn't bad considering our size.
Any ways some of those countries are a lot smaller then some of our states.
I believe we have some states with literacy rates of ~99.9%

I would need to know how this is measured
and based of what. Subjects like math English and science in general is WAY to broad.
I do know based on several polls that we are on top of studies concerning space and medicine.
While we are starting lose the lead on computer technologies.

But its ok. Its hard to find a professional marathon runner that can also do professions weight lifting.

Also have to remember that a number of those countries have a very interesting approach to secondary education, its is more Magnate school method rather than all kids put into the same school. The result is there are really two school systems one that is tech oriented and one that is academics based.

Think of it in comparing fighter squadrons? Which is better?

The US would be a multi role squadron with all flights being multirole..

Where countries like Finland and Japan would have flights that are specifically Pursuit
Specifically Ground Attack, and Specifically Escort.

In the end it gives a better over all mean score to Finland and Japan even though in reality the US pilots are better well rounded :)
