Salute eh!

Hey need some help with this IL2 game play, first let me say I know next to nothing aboot computers... plug and play type of goof I am.
Anyways...I've installed the game on both my DT at home and on my laptop for my mobile office, on both systems the game is a matter of not how many frames/sec but how many sec/frame! I've only tried sp and found game play very frustrating as its worse then a slide show. Should I be looking at video settings? Not at home now trying to remember what the DT consists of ... duo core running hd partiioned with winxp and vista, have the game installed in winxp, got ram out the ying yang, graphics card hmmm ? On the laptop amd sempron 1.8GHz, 80GB HD, currently 512MB ram, winxp, ati radeon express 200M graphics card... play RB mmp from this machine through air card never have much for issues...

Appreciate any help/suggestions.

Salute

Harry you should bump your ram up to over a gig and reduce your settings a little to get your fps up

S!~ Harry,

When you get back to the house please post the specifications for your desktop computer. In the meantime, let me do a little research. It seems to me that there's a settings guide somewhere around here.

That is roughly the same as my laptop.

To get it to work I reduced settings to 16 bit, 800x600 and lowest settings for most of the display options except for the visual range which I kept high.

It worked, but would take forever to load. One advantage to the 800x600 was the targets were visible far far off in the distance as a black spot with a drop shadow

Ok me try what Cols suggested.... holee...(you weren't kidding aboot slow load up!!!)... worse alot worse!!! had to pull battery pack off laptop froze up solid!! tried different settings still choppy... now I remember why I tossed original IL2 into wood stove! next question... direct draw or open gl and windowed or full screen? Won't be home for another week and a half; so I won't be able to tell whats in the box till then... but IL2 was just as choppy on the DT as with my laptop... damn you Bill Gates!! may the replicators of a trillion borg or cylone or goahoule (what ever) spaceships... infest your manicured arm pits!!

signed.. ah yes Cols... but damn-it I'm the best sop-tripe specialist with zebra stripes you'll evere see at any Zoo!!

Harry, my machine is no screamer either, very close to yours in specs, but I manage to coax 60+ fps solid on it by just keeping it clean. Run Spybot and AdAware or whatever you prefer regularly to keep other crap from hogging your resources. Get computer cleaned up by moving everything out of the My Documents folder, and off the desktop and replace with shortcuts to keep RAM open. Some with more 'puter knowhow tell me that this is hogwash, but it appears to work for me.
