S!~ All,

There is a virus that 60 minutes featured last night that is set to be activated on millions of infected PC's around the world on April 1st. Here's a link the the online article;

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/03/ ... 7053.shtml

To determine whether or not your computer is infected, and to remove the threat if present, you can use the Micro$oft Windows Malicious Spyware Removal Tool (MSRT), provided that your MSRT is up-to-date. MSRT runs quietly on your machine and does a scan each month. Unless it finds something, you’d never know it. But, it does a quick scan automatically. You can do a full scan by running mrt.exe. To do this go to Start>Run and type mrt.exe (you can type just mrt in Vista). You’ll want to do a full scan. However, you should know that MSRT can take a few hours to complete and will use considerable resources.

For more information, refer to the Micro$oft virus alert, which you can find here;

Hey couldn'y you reformat your computer to eliminate any possibility of having a virus? That's what I need to do anyway, because I don't have a recovery disk and it's saying that I have an invalid microsoft product key for my vista prenium.

S!~ Raz,

That will work. I recommend that you simply fdisk and delete the partition before the reinstall. But, remember that the very first thing you want to do when you get back online is to install some virus software.

If you want to be 100% clear of any virus you have to wipe every thing from your HDD

Hit the jumper on the mboard

and remove your ram fro 30 seconds then reinsert it.

Virus have the capability of sticking into the memory on the mboard (Like when you flash your bios)

And i heard reports of them being able to keep it in the RAM as well.....

Think it happend to someone i know their motherboard is fried unknown reason. Took the memory out and started the computer and there was no beeping noise to alert us of the missing RAM. Motherboard has to be hit, there was not signal to the monitor or to the sound card when you startup, I suppose the BIOS was hit too but we couldn't tell that due to the monitor.

Their Computer: HP Pavillion a6300f(I need more of their specs.)
Possible Cause: Leaving the computer on day and night. Downloading from the dreaded Limewire sharing client. Downloading music files that don't play and leaving the on, as they maybe malicious software.
