After many tries and searching, I finally got my screen to come back alive. the one where time etc is displayed. it was the drivers. If anyone needs them let me know. I now have the correct ones.

I had that issue on XP 64. Only one USB port worked properly for it; The one that it was plugged in to when the driver was originally installed.

I found the original installation disc and was able to install it just fine on my new win7 box.
