The 1st phase of Wings~of~War: Singapore 1941 has concluded

Unread post by Tiger »

Allied Forces have retreated from the sector. The campaign has concluded.

Congratulations to the Axis Forces. I'll compile the scores in the next couple of days, but they will have no bearing on the outcome. The Axis Forces have won the 1st phase of Wings~of~War: Singapore 1941.

darn, I was looking forward to an all out battle today. ..It definately had the makings of an interesting campaign however that acursed paperwork kept me busy except for the first night strikes.

~S~ Allied pilots. I did get some good fights with a few P40s flown the way they should vs Japan.

~S~ Python -

I jumped you not long after you took off...and truth be told I really hate doing that (would rather dogfight)...but we had other bogeys in the area and wanted to make sure we could complete our CAP mission.

The second sortie with you was a blast...going in and out of clouds playing chicken for as long as we did almost gave me a gravity headache...wasn't sure which way was up.

Good flying sir.

And a quick ~S~ to the other pilots I encountered last night...I will easily admit we had the upper hand by mid-evening and salute you for taking off and fighting us anyway.

To my buddy Mr. Schwack - you might not have turned to engage, but you flew and lived EVERY time I engaged you. You flew the P-40 as I have always read it was flown successfully. On our last engagement we chatted briefly about the hits you got on me...let me give you some details.

I was all over a bogey's tail and should have pulled off when I saw your position, but I got greedy (was going for my fifth that night at the time)...you thew some serious lead into my airframe.

- No ailerons
- One rudder shot off
- Pilot heavily wounded

I was in no position to engage after that, and could barely fly...so I figured I would rudder my way to our field and bail out if it would allow me (and if I did not flame out before then). I knew I had some distance on you, so I radio'd my squad mates and let the plane drop to keep my speed. I knew you were back there...I was just hoping that I could keep distance until bailing.

Well - when I got to our base, I was ironically not "too" far off a lineup, and was definitely too low to bail, so I figured I was dead already...might as well go for a belly and see what happens. Blood loss makes you do stupid things. Well - pretty sure my gas tank was loaded with four-leaf clovers...you saw the end result, I actually skidded to a stop ON the taxiway (or runway, not sure) and survived.

But if we could give away points...I would give you 100 easy...you got me.

~S~ Axis Pilots,
Congratulations on your well-fought victory! Your teamwork was impressive. I had several opportunities for potential kills that were thwarted by excellent cooperation and coordination between fighters or bombers and escorts.

Medar, it's been a blast sparring with you and your teammates this week. That was some great flying last night to get away, get home, and put it down - it may have been on the taxiway, but I think I remember you getting it on the runway. That wasn't surprising at the time but I was very impressed later to hear how badly you had been damaged. I am looking forward to putting into practice some lessons from ABS in the Betty next week, but I will definitely fly some fighter sorties too, and hopefully we'll meet again. ~S~

Yes, you nailed us real good. :o  We never saw you coming. ~Salute~

I very much enjoyed this campaign, and ~Salute~ all the Allied pilots for the well fought battle.
I look forward to flying Allied, and am sure it will be a great fight.

This was my attempt to fly in a campaign. I didn't shoot any planes down, but I did bomb the allies base and take out some AA. I was able to navigate on my own and did so to the enemy base and back home. Looking forward to next week ~S~ to all.
