Plastic models
I was wondering who it was that had told me at one point they had an online model store. Revell has put out a good series of 1/48 WWII aircraft and I need to find a good place to buy my paint and meterials. The local hobby shops seem to have less ans less selection. If anyone knows a good place to get this type of stuff please post here. They will get plenty of business from me. I still have a Dragon Panther "D" to finish. Please let me know. Thanks

Re: Plastic models
Not a store, but a magazine www.internetmodeler.com we are in the process of changing over to a new format, so many of the back issues from the past 12 years aren't available at present.
As far as shops go www.squadron.com is usually good to get supplies from
I've been busy of late buying up and building 1/72 JAAF stuff. .. I've done 17 of them in the past year and have at least as many to go, plus another couple hundred kits in the stash downstairs. Mainly aircraft, but also 50 or so ships and a few tanks. Only one car though as they are the ultimate in BORING (jk) - I have a 1908 Rolls-Royce to get done some decade

Re: Plastic models
I've always liked the Revell and Monogram kits. Monogram did a great line of 1/48 kits in the 1970s. Some of them are considered classics I have the following in the collection to build still: B-17, B-24, B-25, B-26, P-38, P-40 B/C, P-47, P-51, SBD, TBD, Kingfsher. Others of theirs that I have built and would do again are the TBF, F4F and Me262. Their F4U and Zero are pretty basic
Revell was more known for their 1/32 kits and they did a LOT of them. All of them that I have seen are decent builds with lots of details. Some of these that I have to build or have built are: P-38, F4U, Spitfire Mk.I, Bf109G, Bf110G, Mosquito, Ki84.
In the 90s Revell and Monogram amalgamated and many of their kits are now marketed under either companies banner. . Revell 1/48 I think may fall into this category as they didn't have very many of their own in that scale.
All of the above kits feature raised panel lines, whereas newer kits have recessed lines.
Top of the line kits are generally those of Tamiya and Hasegawa with many others also well worth a look. For the pricey end of the scale, I recently received a 1/48 Ki48 for review that I would not be able to afford otherwise - the thing retails for $80-100. Revell/Monogram are at the opposite end of the scale as far as price goes.
Most of the kits that aren't review samples, I buy from ebay as you can get pretty good deals there.
