Looks great - but I will believe October 2010 when it happens.

The one thing I keep going back to is that while they brought us the original IL-2 and the BASE product is what everything we do is built around...it was the users and modders that made IL-2 more than just another sim. Hopefully there are enough controls built in to do the same with this newer version.

Well, in an interview last summer with Oleg, he addresses that very issue. Here is the question and answer from that interview:

Q: After the Il-2 code was cracked, how seriously do you approach security when designing BoB? Will this be an entirely new protection scheme, or an improvement of the Il-2 method?

A: Online protection code will be all new. However, the sim code itself will not be protected as much, in order to allow others to create their own add-ons. This will not affect fairness online. We’re taking special measures for that. [Luthier’s note: standard set of features for online games will be protected and unchangeable; each online server will choose whether to only allow these locked Maddox-approved features, or whether to also allow user mods.]

I think its possible. I bet Nov 2010 but i am sure it going to happen this year.


I was looking at the video above. I can already hear my Vid cards crying. Im going to need the FERMI when it comes out to run that.
