FYI....a little experiment I'm trying
Hi everybody,
I really enjoyed flying with you all last night, it's sooooo much better than flying alone. Thank you so much for accepting me into the group.
I wanted to make everyone aware of a little experiment I'm trying. Actually, I try a lot of experiments with my flight simulator, but this one includes a webcam. When I fly on Skies of Valor, I have a couple of webcams set up so people can to see what I'm doing on this webpage... http://www.rogerdodger.net/webcam/ww2cam.html
They can also hear me and the other pilots on Teamspeak.
I have not publicized this webpage yet. I wanted to make everyone aware of the webcams in case there are any objections to me doing this during AVG activities.
Why am I doing this?
I assume there are people that are interested in online flying, but would like the option to just see a preview of what's it's all about before buying the software, installing the patches and mods, choosing a joystick, getting Teamspeak, etc.
I'm thinking that my double-webcams could give people a chance to "peek in the window" and see what's going on. Maybe it's like giving someone a chance to see a hockey game first before trying to play hockey.
Essentially, I don't know how people will react to all this. Like I said, it's an experiment.

Salute and welcome aboard DIYmatt!
I am sure no one would mind having you do this, and as you say it would be a great intro and only benefit the game. We do not hide anything we do, and everyone is welcome to attend our practices provided they are serious about it, so this seems a logical step. Might have to edit some potty-mouth words though as we do tend to get excited from time to time.

very Awsome. I love the pvc to hold your throttle and joystick. I may have to get that info so I don't have to use my extra office chair and file cabinet. I would love to see your setup in action and see how it all looks. And Welcome

Well, how do you like that? And, just in time for the =AVG= Reunion. I was considering inviting the surviving members of the AVG to our reunion, but the question in my mind was, how could they see what we were doing or be involved in some way? You may have just provided the answer. I'll catch up to you later as I have some questions for you. This is quite interesting. Quite interesting, indeed.

Matt - glad to have you on board sir!
I do have to give you some huge credit - the Keyboard MOD on your site is pure genius! You have the same exact setup that I do (CH Stick/Throttle/Pedals + TrackIR)...curious to find out exactly how the Keyboard MOD works - whether it is a software emulation that will not conflict with button settings on the stick/throttle...or just exactly how the second keyboard is set to not conflict with the first or the sticks.
Might be worth the $10 to me just to figure THAT out

Thanks Medar,Medar wrote:...curious to find out exactly how the Keyboard MOD works - whether it is a software emulation that will not conflict with button settings on the stick/throttle...or just exactly how the second keyboard is set to not conflict with the first or the sticks.
Actually, there's no mystery to it, give it a try. Attach two USB keyboards to your computer. Consider one keyboard to be modified, the other is not. On your modified keyboard you can label and assign the keys in IL-2 any way you want. The "G" key doesn't have to be Landing Gear, you can assign it to something else and label it "LNDG GEAR"
One key will be labeled "CHAT" After you press that key, use your other regular keyboard to type out your message, just like normal. Press Enter to send the message, and then go back to using your modified keyboard.

Surviving members? Do you mean the surviving members of the actual American Volunteer Group?Tiger wrote:I was considering inviting the surviving members of the AVG to our reunion,
