I would difinately want to get some more "ram" into either of those boxes too.

The DIMM slots are for ram? If so, with 4 slots, how much extra ram can I get in this?

is a nice machine but you got to look at how much you are paying for...
you should see if a custom machine with the same spec is cost effective

I did and I can get this set up for 1100 from best buy.

A friend of a friend is a HP dealer and I was told I could get it at cost so......... maybe 900 from him Im guessin.

For all that is there, its a good deal from what I have gathered. My other concern is that I read Vista 32 bit is only up to 4 gig of ram. The 64 bit Vista is up to 8 gig.

4 DIMM and 3 Gig's Slot's IS Enough. I would Be more Conserneed about Ram Speed.

System Memory (RAM)3GB
Type of Memory (RAM)PC2-5300 DDR2 DRAM

Being PC2-5300 If im Correct is ~700 MHZ Clock Speed. DDR2 RAM has a max clock speed of 800 MHZ. Believe me RAM Speed makes a HUGE Difference Try to look or ask for PC2-6400. U will be glad u did.

I forgot  4 ram slots dosnt mean you may use all of them on many machines!
it may be you can use 2 slots for one type and the other for another type meaning only 2 gigs of either
but not four. my last two boards and most I have seen are this way and will be differant colour slots.
sounds like a loaded machine Warren shud be OK in my opinion.

My Mboard only has 2 slot's each has one Gig. BUt i don;t care because im constently restarting my comp and turning it off and on so i never really fill up the ram. If i wanted 2 more slot;s it would have cost me an extra $50
