Taking it all in
~S~ to those that know me, and those that do not! I am pretty sure I recognized a few names on the roster.
A few of the fellas around the ready room over at JO mentioned =AVG= to me, thought I could drop in and check out the operation as long as I am not in the way. I was involved in a flying squadron for a short while back in the early 90's of the Air Warrior days, so it is just easier to say I have never been in a squadron (been too long and they are long-dead).
But I have been thinking about it lately...my Joint-Ops class training is essentially complete, so on George's advice I am dropping over here first.

~S~ and thank you Tiger - will absolutely try and do that as soon as the PC is turned back on. I do have one good question.
When are the normal flight days and times for =AVG=?
The reason I ask is that I have two young kids, and while they are awake my Flight Stick remains cold.

Re: Taking it all in
S!~ Medar,
I think you'll find someone from the =AVG= flying at just about any hour of the day. However, most of us fly in the evenings. I'd say from about 9:00 p.m. Eastern and late into the night. For a schedule of events I'd recommend checking the Event Calendar. There's something for everyone there.
Where are you located, and what times do you normally fly?

I am located in OK (USA)...smack dab in the Central Time zone. 9pm EST and late into the night is a very good thing. I am probably relegated to around 9pm CST...depending on when the kids hit the sack for the evening.
And I saw a few familiar names on Skies of Valor last night - BigO and Trouble. I believe Grube and at least one other =AVG= were up and flying as well. Hard to salute and chat while getting shot down...but at least saw the names.
I am certainly interested, and will check the event calendar as you suggested.

Re: Taking it all in
Air Warrior eh Medar? I fly with the Guardian Angels in the Red Baron game, which group had its start in Air Warrior, but did not fly AW myself. Prop2u and Air25 were two of the more active members back then; perhaps you recall them?

I would love to say I remember some names from my AW (AW2, and AWIII) days...but flying for me was sporadic at best back then...and the hourly rates highly sucked. The few names I remember were from the squadron I flew with - Stru, Spitboy, Fry, and a few others. But that group moved on to Warbirds and I did not (my CH stick broke in a move...could not replace it back then)...and that was all, sheesh...15 years ago or so.
I have tried out Aces High and AHII off and on...just never warmed up to it - but it was about as close to AW as I could find. Quit flying regularly for a good decade, and just started flying IL2 last year due to a buddy getting me interested again. Now I cannot get enough of it...a new CH Stick, Throttle, Pedals, and TrackIR - and I look forward to some stick time after everyone else is asleep.
Ironically the same guy I mentioned above (Stru...real-life buddy) and I had Red Baron, RBII, and he had RB3 - we flew it offline quite a bit...but not too often online. I installed RB3D at the same time I put IL2 on my new machine...but enjoy IL2 way too much. And after finding Joint Ops (where I have spent the last year flying)...I was hooked.

S! Medar, I did see you in SoV last night. I wasn't on too long but I should have invited you onto our TS. Its a lot easier to fly with team mates as you know. Anyhow TS info is on the mainpage here, get it and come fly with us. I'll be on tonight I'm almost positive.

~S~ Trouble -
No worries my friend...I had not intended to fly very long, but started out the evening taking down three before limping back to an airstrip, and it sucked me into flying for a couple of hours. It's my youngest's birthday today, so if I am up, it will be later in the evening again.
I will look for you and hit TS before heading into SOV.
