Convert to Red Baron 3D

Now that you have downloaded the Super Patch you will want to run the rb3d_spr.exe program to convert your Red Baron II game to Red Baron 3D. When you run the rb3d_spr.exe program you will see a warning stating that if your Red Baron II game is in a language other than English it will be converted. Click "OK". Once you click "OK" the conversion will begin and you will see a screen that looks like this:

Click "Next" to begin converting your Red Baron II game to Red Baron 3D. A License Agreement will appear and it will look like this:

Click "Yes" to continue converting your game from the Red Baron II version to Red Baron 3D.

Now that you have accepted the License Agreement the conversion will continue and the screen will look like this:

Once the conversion is complete the default preferences screen will appear and it will look like this:

Click "Yes" to continue and accept the default preferences.

Now that you have accepted the default preferences you will receive a warning about single missions from Red Baron II being incompatible with Red Baron 3D. The screen will look like this:

Click "OK" to continue (no missions have been created in Red Baron II).

Next you will be asked to select shortcuts to add to the Red Baron II folder in your start menu. It is recommended that you do not select any as seen in the image below:

Once you have removed the check marks click "Next".

The final screen will look like this:

Click "Finish" to exit the conversion program. The directory structure of Red Baron II converted to Red Baron 3D is not exactly the same as the Red Baron 3D version. To complete the conversion you will need to download and run the Red Baron II/3D compatibility patch which you can find here: Red Baron II/3D Patch

The Red Baron II/3D Patch includes updated graphics files for Red Baron 3D, such as detailed planes, objects, and terrain.

Once you have downloaded the RB23D.zip file extract the contents to the C:\SIERRA folder using folder names and allowing existing files to be overwritten as shown in the image below:

You have now successfully completed the conversion of you Red Baron II game to Red Baron 3D.

To run Red Baron 3D in single player mode select the Baron.exe program. To play Red Baron 3D online, run the baronmmp.exe program. A "Disk Missing" warning will come up as seen in the image below:

To run the game click on the upper right hand Iron Cross 6 times.
