While participating in Forgotten Skies, Major SpaceGnome successfully completed 18 missions without the loss of a single aircraft. In addition, Major SpaceGnome's effort has contributed to the success of the mission. For example, Major SpaceGnome, Major Python, and Captain Big_Fred, were on patrol in the Forgotten Skies campaign on 22 February 2009 when they came in contact with three enemy bombers. With Major SpaceGnome's assistance, Captain Big_Fred was able to destroy one of the enemy bombers. After another engagement with Major Python scoring a probable, Major SpaceGnome, Major Python, and Captain Big_Fred, returned safely to base.
For his sustained meritorious service, for valor, and for heroism in the face of the enemy, Major SpaceGnome is hereby awarded the Commendation Medal. Major SpaceGnome’s actions are in keeping with the highest standards of the =AVG= and the U.S. Army Air Forces.
