1.) Make a backup copy of your existing installation of IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946
2.) Install a new copy of IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 from the DVD or D2D
3.) Update to version 4.08m (http://mission4today.com/index.php?name ... ls&id=1908)
4.) Update to version 4.09m (http://mission4today.com/index.php?name ... ls&id=3764)
5.) Run skins409m.exe (http://mission4today.com/index.php?name ... ls&id=3761)
6.) Run the ubifix if you installed the D2D version of IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946. If you installed the DVD version proceed to step 7. (http://www.warbirdsofprey.org/wopDownlo ... bi-fix.rar)
7.) Download UPUpdate.zip (attached to this post)
8.) Extract UPUpdate.zip to the root folder of your new installation of IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946
9.) Navigate to the UPUpdate folder that you just extracted into the root folder of your new installation of IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 and run UPUpdate.exe. Wait for it to complete before proceding to step 10. This is going to take a while because you are downloading and installing UP 2.01
10.) Navigate to the root folder of your backup copy of IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946, copy the users folder, and paste it in the root folder of your new installation of IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946. If you are asked if you want to overwrite the folder select Yes.

UP 2.01... not 3.0? Hunh?
Are we going backwards or did I miss something?

We will be flying Wings~of~War: Ardennes 1944 using 4.09m/UP 2.01. The
reason that we will need to go back to 4.09m/UP 2.01 is that FB Daemon II
will not work with 4.101.1/UP 3.0. The good news is that the C-47 and Ju-52
will be available and paradrops and cargo do have an effect on the
campaign. We will be switching to 4.10.1/UP 3.0 in the near future. I am
working with Lowengrin and WildWillie to add DCG functionality to FBDj.

For those of you who upgraded to 4.10.1/UP 3.0 and deleted your 4.09m/UP
2.01 installation, I will be posting instructions on how to create an
installation of 4.09m/UP 2.01 on the Wings~of~War forum.

I heard Hair club for men is looking at the pile on Tigers floor and thinking of the profits they could be making if he swept it up and mailed it to them.

I don't know to say guys, I have 5 installs, and of course and backup copy only, that I can simply copy, paste and rename if I need another install. I kept wondering why people didn't want to re-install if they had a corrupt copy. I still have a copy dubbed "Wings~of~War IL-2 Sturmovik 1946" (2.0.1 Installed) I wanted to have all event related operations on that installation specifically. Yeah Tiger they finally came out with a Wings~of~War Version, lol.

Others are Test Bed, HSFX, and SAS.

So look at it this way you have 1 or 2 UP installs, 1 HSFX, 1 SAS, and a Stocked Copy only.

And it's about half of what you said YOKE, IL-2 has become a big boy.

I have a bit of a problem; I put the DVD into the drive, run the setup launcher, and it, after doing the whole 'preparing to install' schtick, asks me if I want to uninstall. No other option. What am I missing here?

What you should do is first save your previous install by changing the name of the root folder. I.E. Backup Ubisoft

Then, go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the game from the list. The uninstaller will not be able to find the backed up game, but it frees up the registry to allow the disk to be installed again.

S!~ Screwball,

Be sure you made a copy (or renamed your original installation). Just click "No" when you're asked if you want to uninstall. Then, you'll notice that the DVD drive keeps spinning, the LED for the hard drive keeps flashing, and the installation program is minimized in the toolbar (and it won't open if you click it). The DVD will actually install the game into the directory C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946. :)
