Windows7 firewall

Unread post by Redhornet »

So I have everything IL2 related on the new computer, it runs REALLY well and I'm lovin every minute. However when I go to log onto a server (Skies of Valor) I get the "...server has kicked you..." message. I think Win7 has denied the game access to the internet. How do I tell Win7 to F-off and mind it's own business while I fly online?

Hyperlobby doesn't show anybody or any servers online either, please help!

As always any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Trouble! I turned off both the home and public firewalls and still cant get online with IL2. What else do I need to do? I'm also running Norton Anti Virus, but that's on my old machine and never interfered with IL2.

S!~ Red,

I don't run Windows 7 but I'll take a stab at this; are you running the programs as an administrator?

I honestly don't know. How do I tell the programs to run as admin?

I believe if you right click on the program it will give you an option to run as admin. Of course, I don't run Windows 7 and I have done no research, so I could be all wet.

At least you bypassed the POS known as vista.

Every so often as soon as I start a game I have to exit to the desktop and when the popup appears asking if I want to allow this dangerous program say yes. .. ticking the box that asks if I want to not be asked again doesn't help as I am told I have my maximum number of rules. ...

I would suggest to turn the firewalls back on, and then allow the programs IP ports to pass through or else all your IP ports maybe exposed to the outside world.

Yep all firewalls back on and all security back to high alert. Setting the .exe's to "run as administrator" is the ticket.

Using the new system tonight to play online for the first time (on SoV), can't wait to see how everything looks and what the frame rates are!
