S! Gents,

Dummy here again :P

Is there info posted somewhere in non-geek speak as to what one is to do with the JSGME, Ultrapack Switcher & Update links on my desktop without having to read a "Murph" sized novelette and before screwing up one's game?

Of course not.

The JSGME (the GME part is Generic Mod Enabler) is the utility that you will use time and again to activate and deactivate certain mods that will be required for one server or another. In our Wings of War campaigns for example, we activate 00_6DOF_Tracker_2_0_sHr, 01_TougherBridges and 01_Zuti_MDS_x1.13_UP. For other servers there may be other mod sets or none at all, so don't freak on this.

The Ultr@Pack Switcher does sort of the same thing with a set of mods called HSFX, but this will only happen very rarely if at all because the HistorySFX mods are being integrated into the current and future versions of the UP switcher.

The Uktr@Pack Update & Restore is an odd little thing that will be used once in a while to get the latest set of mods so that all will be "up to date" as they say. It will take a god-awful long time to download several files to your machine, but will be beneficial in the long run because without having the latest and greatest you will be excluded from some servers as if you had plague or some nasty skin disease.

As I mentioned in another post, it is absolutely imperative that whenever you install the latest and greatest anything, or hit that install/update button that all of your mods are deactivated through use of the JSGME switcher. This is relatively simple. If you open up the JSGME there will be a list of mods in the left-hand panel, which are all of the mods that are on your maching and available for use. If you highlight one and hit the right arrow button, it will click and whir and perhaps make your machine smoke a little, and then the mod will magically appear in the right-hand panel. This mod is now activated. To deactivate a mod, highlight the mod inthe right-hand panel and hit the left arrow and that mod will just as magically disappear from that panel and be deactivated. If you wish all of your current mods to be deactivated, you can also hig the double-left arrow and it will deactivate all mods.
