Wings~of~War: Normandy 1944

Unread post by Tiger »

Wings~of~War is a continuous 24 hour, 7 day, fully dynamic campaign for IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946, created using the Dedicated IL-2 Server Software, HSFX, IL-2 Server Commander, and Lowengrin's Dynamic Campaign Generator. Wings~of~War campaigns are designed to be realistic in the extreme and are intended to create a very immersive combat experience. As such, there are virtually no rules. It is our intent to eliminate issues that are caused by the subjective nature of the various interpretations of a rule, such as vulching. And, that is why there is no rule against it. Please understand that if you are in the server, you are a target.

Every attempt has been made to govern game play through the use of available software, such as IL-2 Server Commander, or the Dynamic Campaign Generator which manages the campaign, aircraft allocations, load outs, the weather, etc. The server resets every two hours to keep the Wings~of~War mission objectives up to date. A two hour mission equals one campaign day. The victory conditions and objectives for each mission are determined by the Dynamic Campaign Generator. The mission briefing will contain reports of conflicts in various areas of the map and action reports of the activity in the server will be displayed in the server chat. You will need to fly in defense of your ground units as they will be attacked by enemy on the ground and in the air.

Rules

1.) All pilots will fly with the appropriate markings
2.) Any pilot found to be cheating (flying hacked, exiting the server to avoid a death, etc.) will be banned

Scoring

Points are awarded depending upon what happens to the plane that you shoot in each engagement. Points are awarded differently based on what happens to the enemy aircraft that you targeted and whether it is destroyed in the air, force-lands, crash lands at a friendly base or another aircraft intercepts it on its return journey to base. The last plane to shoot into the enemy aircraft will be awarded the kill points. If ground units also hit the target and no air hits were achieved the ground unit is regarded as the killing unit. If the targeted plane does not disintegrate but lands successfully the score is ignored. Pressing "Re-Fly" adds the points achieved in the last sortie to the score.

Scoring is based on the default values for targets. You must survive and return to base to get 100% of your score. If you are forced to land outside of the boundaries of an allied airbase you will be awarded 70% of your score. You will be awarded 50% of your score if you bail out over friendly territory. You will not be awarded any of your score if you are captured or die in combat.

Can't wait Tiger! Awesome job! I'm studying on how to better use DCG and the in-game map creator, so hopefully I can assist next campaign...I felt bad that I offered help and couldn't live up to it because of my health reasons and work hours. I promise that i'll do my best to study these programs and maybe even start my own basic template or two for the next campaign so we have a head start and can minimize the time between campaigns.

Hopefully, bringing new blood into the fray will infuse WoW with a new enthusiasm, maybe even more than last time. In talking with Bahn last night after FS, I brought it up, and they didn't know what it was, but ill mention it to Crash again unless you all have that handled so we can make sure we've got a lot of pilots constantly.

S! Gents,

Thank you for your input. We're going to back the date up one week to the 26th to allow Warren to spread the word, and so that we'll have time to test the campaign.

Well, i'm royally screwed. I put my schedule in on the 9th and confirmed the 11th that I'd take monday, tuesday, and wednesday the 19th, 20th, and 21st off so I could fly WoW the most time. I wish i'd have known earlier. If we do changes like this please please send out e-mails for now on, it's not fair. I change so much at work and miss hours or switch with people, like I did this time, just so I can fly with you guys as much as I can. It sucks now cause I have to work sunday-thus the following week and i'll have to beg to get better hours.

Anyways, peace, gotta go
