Rise of Flight: some questions

Unread post by Colslaw »

I've spent most of the afternoon getting my RoF set up. I can finally use TrackIR and see what is going around and have a decent balance between fps and graphics. However I do have a few questions.

So far I have just been using the Quick Mission and regardless of my settings I don't see any damage on enemy aircraft until they either start to flame, a wing falls off or they blow up. There is also no message saying when an aircraft is shot down.

I have found the D.Va to be very fragile and the SPAD XIII has terrible visibility, so I bought a Sopwith Triplane - WOW, I thought this was my plane in RB3D, but in RoF it seems to be perfect.

AFAIK I have the weekend off if anyone wants to get together and get me further up to speed.

How much is RoF? I'm sure my computer will run it.

Sometimes it is absolutely necessary to kill a fly with a sledgehammer.

There is a free demo version that has all the features to enable you to play both online and offline. It just comes with the Albatros DVa and the SPAD XIII.

I spent all of yesterday getting the game set up. .. so I can help there if we meet up on TS

EDIT: looks like both of our TS servers are down right now

Colslaw, I have made a grievous error. I will still be in Charlotte, NC and away from my computer Sunday. I won't be back flying until Monday the 2nd.

Col: I just spoke to CJ and he suggested these possible causes to the dilemmas we faced last night when we tested your multiplayer: 1. Firewall settings getting weird and 2.Have you got the latest hotfix? without it, you can access servers, but no one will be able to see you.

Just guesses really, although the 1.023b hotfix thing would do it. I'd be willing to meet you in TS and help to sort it out. Also, any other technical questions you may have about ROF, I'm sure I could answer. That goes for any other AVG member as well. Oh, and, Happy New Years all from the AB1!
