=AVG= Membership Application
Code of Conduct
Cheating

The =AVG= does NOT cheat under any circumstance. Any proven accusation of cheating of an =AVG= member will result in the expulsion of the group from a league, and will cause undue, irreparable damage to the group reputation.

Conduct

The =AVG= will use a gentlemanly behavior in public forums and lobbies. No insults, cursing or bad-mouthing will be allowed. Discussions in lobbies and forums can often be heated. Ensure that the behavior you display as a member is in keeping with the high standards of conduct upheld by the =AVG=. In addition to lobbies and forums, behavior in games, whether they are for fun, or league competitions, will be held to the highest standard of group etiquette. Do not complain about the settings and or rules of any game you join. The host of the game has the right to choose any settings and rules for his/her game. If you do not like them, leave the game and join another, or host your own. When playing a game hosted by another person show respect to the host and strictly follow the game's rules. Be polite! Acknowledge a pilots S! (Salute) with a salute. If you are complimented with something similar to GK (Good Kill), respond in any pleasant manner you wish, such as a simple TY (Thank You). If you get shot down, show respect by saluting or complimenting. If you see something in a game that bugs you, do not make any accusations or insinuations in public. Just say GG (Good Game), leave the game, and communicate with your group or wing leader on what happened.

Teammates

An =AVG= member sticks up for his comrades. Always defend your comrade if you see him being attacked or provoked by others, no matter the situation, keeping section #2 in mind. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. If your comrade did something wrong, the =AVG= leaders will decide on a course of action. Until then, he is your comrade and should be defended. Next time, you may be the one in need of backup.

Security

Keep group internal business inside the group. Never take our problems or discussions outside of the group. If you have a problem with any of your comrades try to solve it with him. If you can't reach an understanding, take the problem to your wing leader or to the group officers, but never vent outside our ranks.

Commitment

The =AVG= is a virtual online group, but we like to think of ourselves as a family. A brotherhood. It is understood that everyone has work, family, and all the other affairs that keep us busy. All the =AVG= asks is that you try to spend some time online with your =AVG= family too; at least on a weekly basis. No one is required to be online for any amount of time, but the only way to keep an online community alive is to show up. If you think you will have to stay away for some reason, please let your wing leader or the group high officers know. If you can’t fly with us please stay in contact with us, we just want to know that you haven’t fallen off of the face of the earth.

Gaming

The =AVG= isn't dedicated exclusively to one single game.
Presently it has members in IL-2, and may expand to other games in the future. It is required to have the latest game patch for the games you are participating in. Every game made has some type of flaw or many flaws, so it is asked to please refrain from being overly critical of the games the =AVG= is currently playing. Try to focus on the good points of a game, versus the negatives. It is hard for some comrades to enjoy a game when they hear constant negative comments about it over comms.

Officer Candidate School

The =AVG= is not an exclusive or a closed online community. However, every new recruit who joins the =AVG= will undergo a probation period of one month. During this time, he or she will be evaluated, not only for flying skill, but also for character, behavior and teamwork with the other members of the group. The new recruit will be required to complete Primary Flight Training (PFT) which is intended to familiarize the new member with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of the =AVG=. Upon successful completion of the program, the new recruit will receive his wings, and his assignment to an operational squadron.

Communication

The success of the =AVG= relies heavily on communication between everyone in the group ranks both in the sky and on the ground. We strongly recommend the use of TeamSpeak for voice communications. Without voice communications, we cannot operate effectively as a team. The =AVG= has provided a TeamSpeak server for group use. The =AVG= has also provided a forum in which to discuss any and all team and game related issues, as well as have some fun. Since this is the easiest, most efficient way to put out information that affects all group members, it is strongly encouraged that all members make a forum account and read the issues and questions that are posted.

Good Spirits

It is MANDATORY that all pilots have a sense of humor! If you do not have a sense of humor upon joining the =AVG= you will be issued one. We joke around a lot on TeamSpeak, and generally have a good time. The main point of the existence of the =AVG= is to get together with friends and have a fun time flying.

Grant of Authority

You must be at least 18 years of age and agree to abide by the Code of Conduct to be a member of the =AVG=. The violation of any of our rules will be scrutinized by the Commanding and Executive Officer of the group, and a decision will be made regarding the outcome. The member will have the right to defend his actions against accusations; however, once a decision is made it will be final, with no right to appeal.

Membership Policy
Recruiting

It is against =AVG= policy to actively recruit a member of another squadron in IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 under any circumstances.

Application & Review

It is the policy of the =AVG= to review applications accepted from the web site at virtualaces.net and vote on them. The vote selection is as follows; yes, no, no opinion. The criteria is that no member objects to an applicant's admission. The period of review varies as it is desirable to have the applicant join us on TeamSpeak and fly with us so that we get to know them. The applicant typically receives a reminder e-mail from Group HQ to come and join us if we have not seen him around since he submitted his application.

Dual membership in the =AVG= and another squadron in IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 is not permitted. Applicants will not be considered for membership if they currently belong to another squadron.

Determination

If the applicant receives a no vote, the Group CO asks that the person who cast that vote contact him privately. If the issue can be resolved, the applicant is admitted. If it cannot be resolved, the applicant is notified that we can not accept his application. Once that indefinite period of review expires, the applicant is admitted, assuming that we have had contact with applicant, and that conditions are favorable for admission. If we have no contact from the applicant, there is no further correspondence from the group, and the application fades into the abyss.

Admission

Admission is handled in accordance with section 7 of the Code of Conduct. Once an applicant is admitted he is given the rank of Warrant Officer (WO) and receives orders to report to Training Command for Primary Flight Training (PFT). From that point, he may enter one of the PFT courses that are offered, or he may review the training material and ask for the written and practical exams. The WO must complete his PFT in the 30 day probationary period. Assuming that the applicant completes his PFT successfully, he is given the rank of 2nd Lt, and posted to an operational squadron. Training Command is tasked with coordinating with the WO to get his training completed successfully, awarding him his wings, and assigning him to an operational squadron.

Conduct

A member's commission is subject to review by Group Command in the event that such member violates the agreement he entered into upon applying for the =AVG=;

"The =AVG= will use a gentlemanly behavior in public forums and lobbies. Just say GG (Good Game), leave the game, and communicate with your group or wing leader on what happened."

The review will be held to determine the status of a member's commission in accordance with section 10 of the Code of Conduct agreement, Grant of Authority;

"The violation of any of our rules will be scrutinized by the Commanding and Executive Officer of the group, and a decision will be made regarding the outcome. The member will have the right to defend his actions against accusations; however, once a decision is made it will be final, with no right to appeal."

Promotion & Status

Pilot promotions are handled by the =AVG= Promotional Guidelines documentation once the WO is admitted. To remain "Active" a member must have at least visited the forum, logged into =AVG= TeamSpeak, or participated in an event with the group in the last 6 months. If we have seen no activity in 6 months time the member is moved to the reserve roster.

Reserves

If a pilot on the reserve roster becomes active, his status may be updated immediately. Once a pilot has been on the reserve roster for a period of 6 months he may be removed for inactivity. Exceptions to the 6 month removal rule are;

Any founding member. Founding members will stay on the roster indefinitely unless they resign to fly with another squadron. After 6 months of inactivity on the reserve roster, founding members will be placed on the retired roster.

Any member who is on leave due to real life service to his country. Any member who is on leave due to real life service to his country and is on reserve for more than 6 months will be moved to the retired roster.

Retired With Honors

There are instances where decorated, but no longer active, members of the community are honored by Group Command by being added to the retired roster. Other instances of inclusion are;

Any founding member. Founding members will stay on the roster indefinitely unless they resign to fly with another squadron. After 6 months of inactivity on the reserve roster, founding members will be placed on the retired roster. any member who is on leave due to real life service to his country.
